Barrel Clinic

So Anna and I went to our first ever clinic with Blue and Tia, which means first time we ever did the barrels or poles for that matter with them aside for just messing around here and there. Both horses were amazing! They both loaded easily for their big trailer ride, settled right in, we were able to groom them and tack them up while they happily grazed, they didn't even care too much when two more trailers pulled in. Then for the clinic itself they were both fantastic! Blue was bored at first with all the walking and circling around the barrels, but once we started picking up the speed he got softer and more supple and very eager for more! Tia wanted to boogie from the get go but quickly settled in and really enjoyed herself!

Tru - 2 Weeks Old

I measured her a few days ago and she was already 10 hh in the front!! At less than 2 weeks old! I will get another measurement of her this weekend. I can't get over how CHUNKY she is, like she is all muscle, her ass is insane! I am so in love with her it isn't even funny :) She is seriously exactly what I ordered. Now only if that could happen everytime!

Tru - 1 Week Old

Finally she has a name! I decided on Tru - with a registered name of "Dun Tru Perfection" And well she isn't exactly a week, but close enough! She was SUPPOSED to be born today lol, but she would have been a MONSTER! So glad Kallie went early hehe. We turned Kallie and Tru out into the 5 acre field by the house today for the first time. Let them settle in then let Lexi in with them for a bit and the introductions went rather well. Lexi was more interested in running around like a fool then meeting the new addition (and this is the horse that is out 24/7 lol, would HATE to see what she would be like if she was cooped up in a stall all day!).

We’ve played lots of friendly game with everything and anything I can think of, blankets, plastic, towels, a yellow exercise ball! We also continue to work a bit on our porcupine game, getting her used to moving away from the pressure and following the feel. She is amazing and catchs on so quickly!

My Baby Girl

I just had to share some pictures of my little girl (still nameless though!) She is without a red dun tobiano, just like her little brother! I am so happy with her. In the first day we have already rubbed her all over with a towel, the halter, a plastic bag, our hands. We even started playing the porcupine game, very gently asking her to back up and yield her hind quarter and fore quarters. Doesn’t take this little filly long to catch on! She is just perfect, she is well built, quite, calm and a fast learner! What more could I ask for?

She's HERE!!

Kallie is the proud mother of a GOREGOUS FILLY!! Not sure of the color, probably either chestnut tobiano or red dun tobiano (which I am leaning more towards)! I don’t care what color she is, but she is perfect!

I got a call at 3am from a woman in Arizona that had been watching Kallie on the foal cam the past few nights (and had actually called me the night before when Kallie started to act funny). I jumped out of bed and watched on my computer for a few minutes and KNEW something was up because Kallie was not acting herself at all! She was very uncomfortable and trying to find a good place to lay down but with no luck.

By the time she almost laid in her water tub I figured it was safe to head out, so a jumble of nerves I walked down to the “foaling stall” and just as I arrived Kallie’s water broke and she began pushing. PERFECT timing I think! I watched out of the way as she tried to push standing up for a few seconds, finally she laid down and began to push. The front feet came out easily, I ended up helping Kallie out just a little bit with the birth, babys shoulders just needed to be twisted ever so slightly and woosh out she slid!

It of course had just started to rain before the foal was on the ground and a cool breeze picked up so I got a nice warm towel and helped mom dry the baby off so that she didn’t catch a chill. Within a few minutes the little was up on her feet and heading to the milk bar. Here are some pictures of my perfect little girl:
